Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has been discussing Pape Matar Sarr and his future at Tottenham.

The 19-year-old joined Spurs last summer, but, as of yet, he’s not made his debut for the north London club.

However, while Sarr is yet to get a first-team opportunity, he’s still incredibly highly rated.

Indeed, Pitt-Brooke says that Spurs think highly of Sarr, and they’re not the only club that rate him.

In fact, according to the journalist, when Spurs signed Sarr last summer, other clubs were calling Tottenham to congratulate them on signing such a talented player.

What’s been said?

Pitt-Brooke spoke about Sarr and how he’s viewed within the game.

“Sarr, I think it will be another year on loan I think. He’s still very young, I don’t think his last season at Metz was as good as his first season. He’s a big talent, he’s one of the best young players in the world in his position,” Pitt-Brooke said.

“I know for a fact that when Tottenham signed him they had other heads of recruitment at other clubs ringing them up saying ‘wow, you did well to get Sarr, he’s someone we wanted for a while’. So the club clearly think highly of Sarr, I would say another loan for him,” Pitt-Brooke said.

Talent

Tottenham Hotspur are building a team that may well be able to challenge for top honours this season, but the future is also looking incredibly bright in north London.

The likes of Sarr, Oliver Skipp, Dane Scarlett and Ryan Sessegnon should all be stars in years to come, and Sarr in particular is one to be excited about.

Pitt-Brooke labelled him as one of the best young players on the planet, and while we won’t go that far, the fact that other clubs were calling Spurs to congratulate them on the signing bodes well.

Sarr is clearly highly rated within the game, and he could be a real gem for Tottenham in years to come.
