Newcastle United want Benjamin Sesko but may face the pain of seeing him in action for a Premier League rival in Manchester United.

The Magpies have been chasing attacking firepower of late but that has proven to be very, very difficult.

Moussa Diaby, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alexander Isak, Jack Harrison… it feels like every forward-thinking player Newcastle are linked with comes with a huge asking price.

Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth will be working around the clock to land a new signing or two in the final third, but one target could be out of reach.

Newcastle United want Benjamin Sesko

Newcastle fans were sent into overdrive last week as agent Elvir Basanovic posted a photo from Newcastle.

Basanovic runs the Pro Transfer agency and his highest-profile client – by some distance – is Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko.

It was quickly reported that Newcastle are indeed interested in signing Sesko, even if a deal isn’t particularly close to materialising.

Sesko is one of the top wonderkid strikers in Europe and looks destined for stardom.

The 19-year-old Slovenian hit 10 goals and seven assists for Red Bull Salzburg last season, continuing to show his huge potential.

Sesko stands at 6ft 4in tall and has earned favourable comparisons to Erling Haaland.

Newcastle would surely love to sign Sesko but reports claim that the teenager isn’t all that interested in joining the Magpies right now.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Manchester United fancy signing Sesko although a deal isn’t considered to be imminent.

United seemingly have Sesko on their list of potential striker signings, which may only become active if Cristiano Ronaldo moves on.

It would sting Newcastle enough to miss out on a true goalscoring talent in Sesko, but seeing him join another Premier League club? That would really, really hurt.

If Sesko was to join United, it may even leave some fearing another Wayne Rooney situation; Newcastle missing out and then going on to score goal after goal for the Red Devils with many coming against the Magpies.
