TikTok ‘Kia challenge’ explored

A woman had her valuables stolen and her car damaged after a recent trend called the ‘Kia challenge’ made rounds on TikTok, Indy100 reports.

The trend sees social media users attempt to start a Kia car’s engine with a USB cable. However, viewers are reminded to not engage in those kind of challenges and immediately report videos linked to the trend.

It appears the challenge started from a video where a person appears to successfully start the engine with a USB charger.

The attempt of starting a car this way looks highly dangerous, even for trained individuals, and could result in injury.

Woman falls victim to challenge

An Indiana woman, called Alissa Smart, has fallen victim to the ‘Kia challenge’ after someone broke into her car and stole her valuables, Fox 59 reported.

“I was scared, anxious and confused on how someone could see two car seats, and a diaper bag, and still commit such a monstrous act,” Alissa told the publication.

Alissa claimed she suspected teenagers to be behind the break-in, however, there has been no information so far to support this allegation. She said she expected a hefty bill to get her car repaired.

She continued: “I can’t afford to fix my vehicle, which leaves me and my two children without our only mode of transportation. Not to mention they stole my wallet that included my ID & my children’s medical cards with their full names and date of births. I feel violated and scared.”
