Who was Johnny Pizarro as Law & Order Crew member passes away?

Johnny Pizarro, a crew member on the sets of Law & Order, passed away on Tuesday in a shooting incident.

According to the New York Post, the man was “fatally shot” on the sets of the television series in Brooklyn on Tuesday, July 19.

The tragedy occurred when Johhny was in the driver’s seat of a 2008 red Honda Civic at around 5:15 am.

The police have revealed that the investigation surrounding his death is underway.

Who was Johnny Pizarro?

Johnny was a 31-year-old resident of Queens, New York. The NYPD confirmed to NBC Boston that he was a father of six children.

At the time of his death, Johnny was serving as a crew member on the sets of Law & Order.

His job involved putting up notices about filming and placing cones around the needed space. He was also required to park the trucks.

One of Johnny’s friends and co-workers described him as a “great guy, always laughing or making somebody laugh.” 

His neighbors told the outlet that Johnny always wanted to work in television and he was into motorcycles and dirt bikes.

Victim’s father issues a statement

Johnny is reportedly survived by his wife, children, and his father.

His dad, who lives in Puerto Rico, told NY Post that he was shocked by the tragic news. Apparently, they weren’t close but “reconnected somewhat” in the past three years.

“We weren’t close, but he’s my son no matter what. Now he’s gone for good, forever,” the devastated father said.

“I feel lost. To me, he was a good boy. He took care of his children. He was always nice to me,” he added further.

Mayor Eric Adams addresses the shooting

Mayor Eric Adams issued a statement following Johnny’s death and condemned gun violence.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time, and will work diligently to bring the suspect to justice and stem the tide of gun violence we are seeing.

“The safety of all New Yorkers is our top priority. No shooting is acceptable, which is why we are working every day to get illegal guns off New York City streets.”

A spokesperson for NBC and Universal Television seconded the Mayor’s thought while paying tribute to Johnny.

“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result. We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
