When is Discord coming to Xbox? How to get voice chat and link profiles

The Discord app and voice chat is now available to get on Xbox consoles for Alpha Insiders, and it is coming out for all Microsoft players soon.

July has been a good month for Xbox users. The Game Pass offerings have included Far Cry 5 and the day one release of As Dusk Falls, and subscribers are today receiving Watch Dogs 2 and MotoGP 22.

While the Game Pass additions have delivered as always, the best addition this month is the integration between Xbox and Discord.

When is Discord coming to Xbox?

Discord voice chat came to Xbox on July 20th for Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead Insider testers.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to become an Alpha tester without an invite and without a survey available. An invite is usually given to people based on high-quality feedback, quest/survey participation, and playing games.

While Discord voice chat on Xbox is only available to get for Alpha testers right now, Microsoft’s Discord announcement says the Integration will expend to more Insiders in the coming weeks. To possibly participate via Insider, you will need to download the Hub/Bundle.

Once you’ve done that, you will then need to agree to the terms and conditions. If you are not an Alpha tester Insider, you can still link your gamertag to the social media network. However, the most it allows you to do is show your status.

How to get voice chat

You can only get and use Discord voice chat on Xbox if you are an Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead Insider tester.

If you are an Alpha tester, follow the below steps:

Open parties and chats on your Xbox Select Try Discord voice on Xbox Scan the QR code The QR code will take you to the Discord and Xbox apps to connect and set up a two-way link between your Discord account and Xbox

You will need to do the above even if you have previously linked the two. If you are not an Alpha tester, you can still link your profiles to share what games you are currently playing:

Open Discord Select user settings (click the gear icon next to your name)Click ConnectionsSelect the Xbox icon Enter your Xbox email address and password
