Christophe Galtier has been speaking about the future of Arnaud Kalimuendo, with Leeds and Newcastle interested in the Paris Saint-Germain forward.

What’s the story?

Well, it was said that Newcastle had been approached to discuss a deal for the France Under-21 international, who enjoyed a productive season-long loan spell at RC Lens last term.

Kalimuendo has also attracted a £20m bid from Leeds, after scoring 13 goals in 38 appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.

Now, Galtier has opened the door to the 20-year-old leaving the Parc des Princes, by refusing to confirm he will stay in Paris.

The 55-year-old, who only recently replaced Mauricio Pochettino, said: “Kalimuendo’s future? I’m more than happy with him, he’s doing great but then… there’s the market. We’ll see club and player’s decision.”

Well then, it looks like we’ll just have to wait for the outcome of talks between PSG and Kalimuendo.

Nevertheless, Leeds are said to be confident of getting a deal done, as Jesse Marsch searches for a new striker.

Everton are also believed to be interested in Kalimuendo, so if PSG allow him to leave, we could see a three-way bidding war ignited in the Premier League.

Leeds could force Newcastle to contact Everton

If Leeds beat Newcastle and Everton to Kalimuendo, it could turn out to be a double blow for the Toffees.

Why? Well, Newcastle are supposedly ready to submit a bid for Everton talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who could presumably be Eddie Howe’s alternative to Kalimuendo.

Everton are currently struggling financially after a period of woeful decision making, so if Leeds do beat them and Howe to Kalimuendo, Frank Lampard would not be in a strong position to fend off interest from the Magpies.

As you can see, we have something of a transfer merry-go-round on our hands here, so make sure to keep an eye on it.
