On July 22, 2022, Vince McMahon announced his retirement. While he is ready to bid goodbye to WWE, over the years his contribution to its growth has boosted his net worth.

Vince, who is 77, has been the Chairman and CEO of WWE for several years. The news about his retirement comes a month after he stepped down from his position.

Several people were quick to react to his decision but the one that caught the attention was of AEW CEO Tony Khan who did not hold back to crack his own joke about the retirement news.

As per Celebrity Net Worth, Vince has an estimated net worth of $1.8 billion. He has been juggling several careers over the years which have also helped him grow his worth.

The outlet notes him to be an “American professional wrestling promoter, commentator, film producer, and occasional wrestler.’

Most of his wealth comes from the shares he holds for WWE. At present, he has 28.7 million shares of WWE’s stock. With this, he has 80% of WWE’s voting power and roughly 37% of the company’s total outstanding shares. To sum it up, whenever the value of WWE shares goes up, they tend to bring in a huge profit for Vince.

What has he said about his retirement?

Vince released a statement regarding his retirement and the same was published on the WWE website. Vince noted that he realized it was time to bid goodbye to his role after being part of the company for several years. He continued to thank his family, employees, and present and past “superstars” for the support they had shown to the brand over the years.

He further assured everyone that WWE will continue to function in the same way and admitted that he was placing his trust in the hands of Chairwoman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and Co-CEO Nick Khan.

Vince also made it clear that he was still the majority shareholder of the company and would continue to support it in any way he can.

AEW CEO Tony was quick to react to the news and did not hold back when he tweeted his response. He wrote: “Thanks to you wrestling fans and your great support of AEW, I’m grateful to now be the longest-tenured CEO in pro wrestling. Thank you very much to every single person who watches AEW! See you for Friday Night AEW Rampage on TNT!”

His witty tweet definitely had many people talking and was enough to grab the attention of everyone.
