Vin Scully’s first wife Joan Crawford passed away aged 35

Vin and his first wife, Joan, were married for nearly 15 years when she passed away in 1972 at the age of 35.

According to reports, she passed away from an “accidental overdose of medicine”. The couple shared three young children. After Joan’s passing, they were all taken care of by Vin.

The commentator was strongly family oriented. He is said to have quit smoking with the help of his family when he realized that the most precious thing was to spend time with them.

His shirt pocket would always have a family picture stuck with the cigarette pack. Every time he had the urge to smoke, he would take a look at the picture to remind himself why he quit smoking in the first place.
