Arnaud Kalimuendo scored the winner for Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday afternoon as the French side edged past Japanese outfit Kawasaki Frontale – amid reports Leeds and Everton have made the young striker a transfer target.

Kalimuendo, 20, has returned to PSG this summer after two years on loan at RC Lens. The France youth international has netted an impressive 21 goals in 65 appearances during his time with Lens – playing out wide and up front.

Reports claim that Leeds were close to signing Kalimuendo for £20million earlier this month. However, a move has stalled somewhat. They remain interested, but the likes of Newcastle and Everton are now also showing interest.

The striker is said to be impressing PSG boss Christopher Galtier during this pre-season. It could see him stay. Now, he will have impressed Galtier even more – as he netted the winner, bravely, after Lionel Messi put PSG ahead.

Leeds and Everton target Kalimuendo scored winner for PSG

While it might seem like a simple goal to score, it is something Leeds missed last season. With Patrick Bamford injured, they lacked the out-and-out striker to score the goals inside 10 yards. Dan James played up top for most of the season.

Joe Gelhardt did come in but he is the kind of striker able to dribble and take on an opponent. Perhaps not a no.9. Kalimuendo shows a proper goal instinct to get across his man and throw his foot at the ball.

That is, even with defenders and a goalkeeper diving in at his feet. As stated, although a tap-in really, it is a goal that is something Leeds would have loved to have scored last season, on a regular basis. Perhaps it might tempt Victor Orta.
