Gilberto Silva has shared that he is ‘very happy’ for Gabriel Jesus after he signed for Arsenal and he feels the same way for the club, as he told Sky Sports.

The Arsenal legend added that he hopes Jesus can become ‘one of the main guys’ under Mikell Arteta’s stewardship and help them reach their goals.

At this moment in time, that’s returning back to the Champions League, which Arteta’s side missed out on in a critical fashion last season.

That’s why someone like Jesus has been brought in, to change that mindset and he could be joined by Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Nonetheless, Silva shared his thoughts on his fellow countryman moving to the Emirates and the Brazil theme that Arteta is building.

“Very happy for him and very happy for Arsenal,” said Silva. “I think he is the kind of player that deserves to be at a club where he has the condition to play for the whole season.

“I hope he can be one of the main players of the team and bring to the club what they expect of him.

“It would be great because he’s a good player and he’s a very good guy. He has already shown, from the beginning, what they are going to expect from him. Score goals, help the team to achieve what they want.”

BIGGEST SEASON OF JESUS’ CAREER

This is where Jesus can go up a few notches in his career, possibly become a world-class player and answer his critics.

If he scores the goals for Arsenal, then his status will be elevated, especially if they secure Champions League football.

Then it’s going to the World Cup with Brazil, he will be a sure selection for the trip to Qatar, but will he be a sure starter?

Well, if he starts the new season well, then there is a big chance he starts Brazil’s opener against Serbia.

Added with that, the legendary football country are also one of the favourites to win the tournament outright, so this just could be a season to remember for someone like Jesus.
