There are no restrictions on how many stops you can make when using Google Maps, so you can plan a fun day out with your friends or the perfect cross-country road trip with up to nine stops, excluding your starting point. You can follow these steps to learn how to do it.
Multiply Your Stops by Using the Internet
To begin, go to Google Maps in your browser. To the right of the search bar, click the “Directions” button to see a map.
By default, Maps starts from the location of your device. Enter a new address if you want this to be somewhere else.
Then, in the provided field, key in the address of your first destination. You can also get the same information by simply clicking on any other location on the map.
Only driving and walking are allowed in Maps, so make sure you have one of those two modes selected before continuing.
To add a new destination, simply click the “+” or the empty space below your current location and begin typing the name of the new location. It’s possible to make a total of nine stops by doing this. Having too many stops may necessitate creating a new map from scratch.
If you change your mind about the order of your destinations at any point, simply use the circles on the left to move any of them up or down the list.
As well as, once you’ve created your map in your web browser, you can send it via email or text message by clicking on the “Send directions to your phone” link. You can start using it right away if you have the Google Maps app installed.
Use the Mobile App to Add Several Stops
In a similar way, you can create a map with multiple destinations using the Google Apps mobile app (free on iPhone, iPad, and Android).
Then, on your mobile device, open the Google Maps app and click on that bottom-right blue “Go” button (see image).
Maps starts from the location of your device by default. Enter a new address if you want this to be somewhere else.
Choose a starting location by typing it into the search bar or by tapping on the map below.
After that, open the menu by clicking on the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen and selecting “Add Stop.”
You can either type in the address of your next stop or simply tap on the map to add it.
Simply use the “Hamburger” (three stacked lines) on the left to move any of your destinations around the list.
Once you’ve added all of your destinations to your itinerary, click “Done” to begin your journey.
