Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Liverpool and Manchester City are in a ‘similar situation’ following their work in the summer transfer market, as he told Sky Sports.

The Liverpool boss made reference to Manchester City selling two players to Arsenal and one to Chelsea and how ‘fresh blood and legs’ are needed, even for such a winning side.

Pep Guardiola has coached his side to four Premier League titles out of the last five, as the blue half of Manchester continues to dominate English football.

Despite that success, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko headed to Arsenal this month, whilst Raheem Sterling was allowed to join Chelsea – all to teams that are trying to chase the Premier League champions.

Added with those departures, one of the more high-profile transfers was Erling Haaland moving to the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund, as Klopp claimed now it’s all about ‘who makes the most of it’.

“Manchester City didn’t only bring in players,” said Klopp. “They have (sold) two to Arsenal. One to Chelsea.

“We are in a similar situation. We can’t always go again with the same team and try to do these kinds of stuff. You need a bit of fresh blood and fresh legs.

“So, Man City are in a similar situation to us. We did it in a similar way. In the end, they will have fantastic football players like we have fantastic football players.

“Then it’s a question of who makes the most of it? And everybody has the same chance. Let’s see. It will be interesting for us. We will give it our all.”

WHO WILL SCORE MORE GOALS NUNEZ, JESUS OR HAALAND?

Liverpool added Darwin Nunez to their books after Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich, whilst Haaland’s arrival resulted in Jesus realising he needed to leave to earn regular starts elsewhere.

At Man City, he didn’t play a central role and he will more than definitely earn more minutes under Mikel Arteta.

But can the Brazil star produce a shock and possibly outscore Haaland and Nunez next season?

Even if he doesn’t, if he can still manage to compete with those two – that’s if they do the business themselves – then Arsenal will be in good hands.

Many will probably back Haaland to score the most goals because he is playing in a side that creates the most chances and his proven goalscoring record is a lot stronger than the other two.
