Craig Burley has claimed that Antonio Conte would be ‘on the first flight back to Italy’ if Tottenham Hotspur sold Harry Kane this summer, as he told ESPN.

Ever since Bayern Munich sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, there has been some noise about the German giants being keen on Kane, but Burley made it clear that such a deal won’t happen.

Bayern’s CEO Oliver Kahn first shared that it would be his ‘dream’ to sign the England captain, whilst Julian Nagelsmann also expressed his admiration for the player.

What club in the world wouldn’t want to sign Kane? Even Arsenal would jump on that chance, at the end of the day, he is a world-class performer and those types of players will always get the attention.

But given how Daniel Levy operates, the possible price on Kane’s head, and how Bayern go about things themselves in the transfer market, then Burley feels all of this is a non-starter.

“When Manchester City and one or two others were trying to prize Kane away last year, and he made it clear, that he was up to leaving Tottenham,” said Burley.

“But Daniel Levy was steadfast. I don’t know the exact amount, but it was upward of £130 million. A lot. Now, that might decrease slightly with age and as time goes on.

“When have we known for Bayern Munich going in to launch that kind of money on one player? So, that would rule it out.

“The other side of the coin, Tottenham know that if they sell Harry Kane from under the feet of Antonio Conte, then he will be on the first flight back to Italy. He will go. The whole thing will just crumble.

“This is, in my opinion, just talk, but I don’t think Bayern Munich or Harry Kane are going anywhere.”

KANE NEEDS TO BE WINNING MAJOR TROPHIES

A player of Kane’s calibre simply can’t go his entire career without winning a trophy, nevermind, a number of major trophies.

The England captain is at the peak of his powers, under Jose Mourinho, he produced the best season of his career to date.

The previous campaign didn’t start off well, even then, he still managed to hit 17 Premier League goals – that’s one more than Sadio Mane who is being backed to win the Ballon d’Or.

Under Antonio Conte, Spurs will have a better chance than they did under Mauricio Pochettino to win silverware.

But if he doesn’t win anything during the forthcoming campaign, then he has to seriously think of picking that phone up to Bayern, or else his career will end trophy-less.
