After months and months of speculation, Djed Spence is finally a Tottenham Hotspur player.

The former Middlesbrough man was confirmed as Spurs’ sixth signing of the summer this week, and now, Spurs’ squad looks ready to compete.

Spence looks to be the last piece of the puzzle for Tottenham, and now, Antonio Conte’s squad looks incredibly well-suited to his 3-4-3 system.

As an attacking wing-back, Spence looks like he’s going to be an absolute star down the right-hand side for Spurs for years to come, and luckily, the future also looks bright down the left.

Indeed, while Ivan Perisic may be the first choice for Conte in that spot this season, Ryan Sessegnon is a fantastic understudy and a star of the future.

Interestingly, Spence and Sessegnon ought to know each other well from their time together in Fulham’s academy, and the fact that these two ex-Cottagers are now teaming up at Spurs will surely make Fulham fans feel sick.

Indeed, Tottenham’s London rivals have seen far too many academy stars leave far too often. From Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott at Liverpool to Matt O’Riley at Celtic, the Whites have had some awful luck when it comes to retaining their young stars in recent years.

Spence and Sessegnon could have been Fulham’s full-backs for years to come, but now, they’re going to be playing Champions League football together on either flank at Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Fulham are scrambling to sign new full-backs with Kevin Mbabu and Luca Pellegrini strongly linked, but if they’d managed to keep hold of Spence and Sessegnon they wouldn’t need to dip into the market to bolster those positions.

It will be sickening for Fulham fans to see Spence and Sessegnon shining at Spurs after having them both on the books in west London at one point.
