‘Three or four’: £13m-a-year Tottenham man hints at new deal, contract ends in 2023

Antonio Conte has hinted to the Daily Mail that as things stand, he could extend his Tottenham contract beyond the summer of 2023. His current deal ends next summer, having signed an 18-month deal when taking over at Spurs.

Conte has instantly become a favourite among Tottenham fans since his arrival. He took over an inconsistent Spurs side under Nuno Espirito Santo, changed the system, the focus, the fitness – guiding them back into the Champions League.

Work in the transfer window has reflected Conte’s success. Daniel Levy is more willing to put his hand in his pocket. Eight new signings since he came in – including Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski and Yves Bissouma.

Spurs are giving Conte the necessary funds and basis to excel in his role, and the Italian is repaying them. The connection between Conte, Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici is a strong one. But his contract does expire in 2023.

Currently earning an enormous £250,000 a week (Mail), Tottenham will have to consider entering contract talks with Conte soon in order to avoid another club moving in. Asked about his future, he hinted at signing a new deal.

“We have many players that can play for Tottenham for three or four years together. We are trying to create a solid foundation,” Conte told the Mail. Asked about his future, he said: “You know, football is always very strange.

“In this moment I’m very happy to stay at Tottenham, I’m very happy to work with this group of players, to work with the club. I think we are doing well with Daniel and with Fabio.”

Conte has hinted he could extend Tottenham deal

While Tottenham have made some wonderful signings this summer, the most-important of all would be keeping their Italian gaffer. He has worked wonders as Tottenham’s lynchpin and is only going to take Spurs forward.

The aim this season will be to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City – 23 points separated the latter and Spurs last season. You would not bet against them with Conte at the helm. A new deal for Conte is pivotal.
