PSG superstar Neymar has expressed his desire to stay in the French capital despite recent reports that the Brazilian was offered to Manchester City as a potential signing.
Speaking to L’Equipe during PSG’s pre-season tour of Japan, the 30-year-old winger revealed that he was to stay in Paris following weeks of speculation of the forward’s future, with new manager Christophe Galtier reportedly open to selling the former FC Barcelona attacker in order to rebuild the squad.
As a result, rumours spread last week that the attacker was actually offered to City in a deal that would see Bernardo Silva sign for PSG, a proposal that was reportedly shut down by the Manchester giants over concerns about Neymar’s mentality and his potential disruption of the dressing room’s chemistry.
Indeed, Neymar’s future in Paris has been under scrutiny for some time, with Kylian Mbappe widely regarded as the club’s main man despite the Brazilian’s presence and that of Lionel Messi, with the 23-year-old French international the highest-paid player at the club.
However, despite all of this, Neymar has this weekend stated his intention to stay with PSG, seemingly debunking claims that City were offered the chance to sign the Ligue 1 talisman earlier last week, with the Brazilian saying: “I want to stay at PSG. I don’t know about the club, because they’ve never said anything to me. I have a contract for several years here. There you go. For now, they’ve said nothing.”
Neymar would have been a disastrous signing for City

City might be a club made of superstars, but even the most passionate of supporters would realise that signing Neymar would have been nothing short of a disaster given what Pep Guardiola is building at the club and the plans the Catalan has placed for the years to come.
Indeed, City’s squad has been crafted and developed to near-perfection, and adding Neymar to the mix, despite his world-class attacking qualities, would imbalance the squad greatly and could potentially cause the entire project to derail in the years to come.
