With Oleksandr Zinchenko arriving, Arsenal are left with only the need for a holding midfielder – and Edu can pull off one of his best Arsenal deals yet, by striking a player-plus-cash deal involving Lucas Torreira and Arthur.

The Gunners have had a good window. Competition for Martin Odegaard has arrived in Fabio Vieira. The issue up front has been resolved; Eddie Nketiah penning a deserved new deal, and Gabriel Jesus has come in.

Bernd Leno has been replaced by Matt Turner. Marquinihos could be the next Gabriel Martinelli, and Zinchenko adds depth on the left of the defence. Now, a holding midfielder and Arsenal will be happy with their work.

That, and offloading a number of unwanted stars. The likes of Hector Bellerin, Nicolas Pepe, Leno, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and others. Torreira is on that list and has made it clear he wants to leave permanently.

Edu can solve two outstanding issues, in one deal. Reports in Italy say the Gunners transfer guru is planning a player-plus-cash move to finally sign Juventus ace Arthur. Arsenal came close to signing him in January.

Edu can pull off one of his best Arsenal deals yet: Torreira and Arthur

The report says that Arsenal want to include Torreira in a deal to reduce the cost of Arthur. Juventus have shown recent interest in the Uruguay international – after starring on loan in Serie A at Fiorentina last season.

Arsenal do have options in holding midfield – Mo Elneny remains, while Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are mainstays. But their form has been questioned. Albert Sambi Lokonga might benefit from a loan somewhere.

So, the need for Arthur is great. The need to sell Torreira is just as big. Juventus want Torreira, Arsenal want Arthur. Edu is eyeing up such a deal – and it makes sense. A stunning bit of business; killing two birds with one stone.
