Well, it looks like Arsenal might’ve finally found a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners released the Gabon international earlier in 2022 and spent much of the second half of last season struggling for regular goals.

In contrast, Aubameyang tore things up at Barcelona and produced a number of exceptional performances, including a hat-trick away to Valencia and a double at Real Madrid.

However, Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus is looking like the real deal, having scored twice against Leicester City this past weekend.

But despite being 33, Aubameyang remains an asset both in terms of football and business.

That’s because despite being released by Arsenal eight months ago, and in spite of his age, the former Gunner already has a £25 million valuation.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has tweeted about the Barcelona hitman amid speculation of a transfer to Chelsea.

Chelsea have scheduled new round of talks with Pierre Aubameyang’s camp this week. Todd Boehly wants to understand conditions of the deal also on personal terms, then it will be time to submit bid to Barça. #CFCBarça want around €30m. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

It’s well documented that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta didn’t get on with the former Borussia Dortmund marksman, who wasn’t released in North London so much as he was exiled.

And as brilliant as Jesus has been thus far, some Gooners – whose side finished outside the top four by a point last season – might wonder that if Aubameyang was replaced in January instead of July whether they’d be a Champions League club now.

That’s debateable, but what isn’t up for debate is the fact that Arteta simply must guide them into Europe’s elite competition this time around.

Failing to do so wouldn’t be a good luck – particularly if Aubameyang does join Chelsea and reminds the Premier League what a monstrous goalscorer he can be.
