West Ham want Piotr Zielinski but a deal looks unlikely – even with Gianluca Scamacca’s agent working on the move.

The Hammers missed out on Jesse Lingard and a move for Armando Broja seemed to stall last week.

A move for Amadou Onana doesn’t seem any closer either, meaning West Ham really need to step things up this week.

Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca looks all set for a move to the London Stadium and another Serie A star is being linked.

West Ham want Piotr Zielinski

The Hammers really want another midfielder even after signing Flynn Downes from Swansea City.

Money is available for such a signing given that West Ham have offered big money for Lille star Onana.

The latest target in that area is Zielinski, who has been shining for Napoli ever since arriving from Udinese back in 2016.

Zielinski would represent a major addition to the West Ham midfield, providing proven quality at 28 years of age.

This deal won’t be easy; reports from Italy suggested that West Ham had offered £17million for Zielinski whilst Napoli want £34million.

Area Napoli offer an intriguing update as they report that Scamacca’s agent Alessandro Lucci is working as an intermediary on Zielinski’s potential move to West Ham.

Lucci is acting as a link between the two clubs having already struck a deal for Scamacca to join West Ham.

The Hammers may hope that Lucci can help get this deal over the line, but it seems like a long shot.

Calciomercato report that Zielinski has now rejected West Ham’s approach and wants to stay with Napoli.

Napoli are seemingly happy with that stance and Luciano Spalletti wants to give him a key role next season.

Unless Lucci can somehow work his magic and convince Zielinski to change his mind, Scamacca will be heading to West Ham without his fellow Serie A star joining him.
