Newcastle United do fancy signing Benjamin Sesko – but Red Bull Salzburg don’t seem interested in selling their talented young striker this summer.

The Magpies are in the market for attacking reinforcements but are finding the transfer market a little difficult right now.

Alexander Isak and Moussa Diaby have proven to be too expensive as Newcastle chased exciting additions in the final third.

French wonderkid Hugo Ekitike has instead chosen to sign for Paris Saint-Germain and it looks like Sekou Mara is off to Southampton.

Newcastle are finding it tricky to bring in a new forward and it looks like Sesko could be another swing and a miss.

Agent Elvir Basanovic set tongues wagging on Wednesday by posting a photo from a Newcastle restaurant.

Basanovic runs the Pro Transfer agency and his biggest client by far is Red Bull Salzburg attacker Sesko.

The 19-year-old fits a similar profile to Ekitke – young, full of potential, tall, rangy, quick and with a strong record early in his career.

Newcastle fans immediately put two and two together and believed that it could only mean that Sesko was heading to Newcastle.

The Daily Mail claim that are indeed admirers of Sesko and have been tracking his progress over in Austria.

Newcastle are just keeping tabs on Sesko at the moment so it’s unlikely that any move would take place this summer.

90Min now add that Red Bull Salzburg have absolutely no intention of letting Sesko leave this summer.

Salzburg have already sold Karim Adeyemi to Borussia Dortmund this summer and don’t want to lose another top young striker.

That means Newcastle would face an uphill battle trying to sign the Slovenian ace anyway, even if Newcastle’s interest was more concrete.

Sesko has hit 11 goals in 37 first-team games for Salzburg and Newcastle could be wise to keep him on their wish list moving forward.
