PSG have reportedly offered La Liga side Sevilla the chance to sign Mauro Icardi, with the Argentine international also on the radars for both Arsenal and Newcastle United.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the Spanish giants have been approached by the French giants with the offer to sign Icardi, with new PSG manager Christophe Galtier intent on offloading Icardi this summer as the Ligue 1 coach looks to overhaul the squad for the new season.

Icardi is one of PSG’s highest-paid players and has proven difficult to ship over the last 12 months, with Arsenal and Newcastle both reportedly being offered the chance to sign the former Inter Milan striker, with Sevilla now being presented with the same opportunity.

A reported £45m signing in 2020 and a player who former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini once labelled as ‘world-class’, Icardi’s form and explosive life off the pitch has resulted in the Argentine becoming an outcast at PSG, and one that the club have struggled to sell, though Sevilla could be an interesting opportunity for the 29-year-old.

Whilst the Premier League could be well-suited to Icardi’s style of play, Spain and playing for a top side like Sevilla could be an exciting chance for the attacker to get his career back on track, especially with the Andalusian side having the potential to match the forward’s financial demands for a season or two.

Indeed, Icardi simply has to leave PSG this summer, and whilst the forward might relish in England for Arsenal or Newcastle, Sevilla could be the best option for the striker for the new season, with La Liga also the perfect division for the attacker to get back into the form that made him such a potent threat.

Sevilla have always been a side who have managed to turn lost players into superstars, and Icardi could be another success story for the Andalusian club should sporting director Monchi take the plunge and sign the PSG pantomime villain in the coming weeks.

With the Spanish giants keen on adding more goals to their squad and Icardi now available, a move makes sense for all parties involved, though for Arsenal and Newcastle, the signing could mean having to look for another attacking target before the closure of the transfer window.
