According to the Guardian, West Ham have submitted a bid to sign Tottenham target Filip Kostic after missing out on Jesse Lingard.

What’s the story?

Well, David Moyes was dealt a blow after Lingard chose to join Nottingham Forest, although the east Londoners have swiftly put that disappointment behind them with a move for Kostic.

The Guardian believe a bid has been made for the Serbia international, although a specific figure is not mentioned.

However, they do state that Eintracht Frankfurt may accept £17m for their No.10 this summer, as he has already entered the final 12 months of his contract.

Moyes watched Kostic closely as the German outfit beat West Ham in the Europa League semi-final, with the Scot keen to bring a left-sided midfielder to the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old can also operate at left-back, or as a wing-back where he shone last season with seven goals and a remarkable 15 assists.

West Ham’s bid comes after some sources claimed that Tottenham were monitoring Kostic closely.

The Guardian believe Moyes is hoping to find competition for Aaron Cresswell this summer, hence his bid for the versatile £43,000-a-week man.

West Ham could beat Tottenham to Gareth Bale 2.0

Interestingly, Kostic has actually been compared to Gareth Bale, for those of you who support West Ham, but know little about the man your club has just bid for.

There are certainly similarities between the pair.

For example, Bale started his career as a left-back, before moving further forward, so he is capable of operating all over the left flank, just like Kostic.

The pair are also incredibly gifted from a technical aspect, and tend to make wise decisions in the final third.

In our view, if Moyes can get Kostic to the London Stadium, it would be a contender for signing of the summer.

Make sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we should hear Eintracht Frankfurt’s verdict on the bid soon.
