According to La Nazione, Tottenham could now offer Giovani Lo Celso in a bid to sign Newcastle target Nikola Milenkovic.

What’s the story?

Well, it was said that West Ham came close to signing the Serbia international in January.

Now, however, he could be on his way to north London instead of east London, with Tottenham seriously interested in bringing Milenkovic to the Premier League.

La Nazione believe Fiorentina are keen to sign Lo Celso, who Spurs paid £27.2m to sign from Real Betis in January 2020, and with the Argentine surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte, he could be used as a makeweight in negotiations.

The Italian supposedly feels his No.18 is too weak.

The South American spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Villarreal, where he impressed as the Yellow Submarine reached the Champions League semi-finals.

Lo Celso even received the Man of the Match award as Villarreal knocked out Bayern Munich.

As a result of his efforts in Spain, Tottenham have received a £13m bid from Villarreal for the 26-year-old.

It remains to be seen if Spurs accept or reject the offer, although it would be foolish to accept if Fabio Paratici – Director of Football at Tottenham – believes Lo Celso could be offered to Fiorentina for Milenkovic.

While the north Londoners contemplate what to do with Lo Celso, Newcastle are monitoring Milenkovic, and plan to snatch him from Tottenham’s grasp.

Tottenham must be wary of Newcastle

In our view, Newcastle could easily swoop in and sign Milenkovic at any moment, so Tottenham must decide what to do with Lo Celso soon.

The Fiorentina No.4 has already entered the final 12 months of his contract in Florence, so if the Serie A side fail to cash in on him this summer, they are likely to lose him for nothing in 2023.

As we all know, Newcastle have money to spend following the Saudi Arabian takeover, so it is highly possible that the Magpies swoop in and make a bid at any moment.

Tottenham must be wary of this, and evoke some urgency into the situation involving Lo Celso if they want to have any chance of signing Milenkovic.
