Speculation is mounting that Marc Cucurella to Chelsea is getting closer, as Tottenham Hotspur prepare to miss out on the player.

Earlier this summer, Tottenham and Manchester City were rumoured to be interested in the Brighton & Hove Albion left-back.

However, Chelsea have taken the lead in the race to sign Cucurella, who has one cap for Spain’s national team.

It was reported earlier this week that the 24-year-old was interested in joining the Stamford Bridge outfit.

And now The Athletic is reporting that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with the defender.

The report has added that despite the agreement of personal terms, the Blues and the Seagulls haven’t agreed on a price, though the West Londoners are prepared to pay £50 million for him.

Well he clearly won’t be going to Tottenham, but the Lilywhites might still sign another left-back before the summer is out.

That’s because Sergio Reguilon is linked with a move away from Spurs and if and when that materialises, Antonio Conte will surely want a replacement.

They already have Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies, but the latter is injured right now and Sessegnon has a checkered fitness history, indicating that the Italian might want another left-back option to ensure his squad isn’t too tight for that position.
