Brighton want Brandon Williams and could move for him as a replacement for Marc Cucurella, who is wanted by Manchester City this summer.

The Seagulls have already sold one important player this summer with Yves Bissouma joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Graham Potter has built such a talented side at Brighton that there is bound to be interest in key players.

One of them is Marc Cucurella, who has already been the subject of one failed bid by Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola wants to sign Cucurella as a replacement for left back Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has been sold to Arsenal this summer.

Brighton want Brandon Williams

Should Cucurella leave Brighton this summer, the Seagulls would absolutely need to bring in a replacement for the Spaniard.

The Mirror report that Brighton have made contact with Manchester United over a potential deal for Brandon Williams.

Brighton have seemingly picked out Williams as a potential replacement at left wing back whilst also being able to play on the right.

It’s an interesting situation; Cucurella joining City would then enable rivals United to sell Williams on.

Williams, 21, has risen through the United ranks and initially made a positive impact in the 2019-20 season.

After slipping down the pecking order, Williams spent last season on loan at Norwich City and suffered relegation.

It’s unlikely that Williams will make an impact at United this season, especially with Tyrell Malacia now on board.

Williams is now wanted at Brighton and that may well appeal given the potential for first-team action in Cucurella’s place.

Brighton only signed Cucurella from Getafe last summer but he was just so good in his first Premier League season that interest is mounting.

City still have some way to go before they can be in a position to sign Cucurella, but Brighton are wise to look into potential replacements just in case a deal is done.
