Gianluca Scamacca is set for West Ham United with a medical expected to take place imminently as the Sassuolo hitman prepares to leave.

The Hammers appeared to be closing in on signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja last week, but that move has gone quiet.

Michail Antonio is into his 30’s and has been susceptible to injuries, so West Ham are now seeking a major striking addition.

It may not be Broja, but West Ham could splash the cash to secure an exciting addition to David Moyes’ attack.

The Daily Mail report that West Ham have agreed a £30.5million deal for Sassuolo hitman Gianluca Scamacca.

It’s stated that the 23-year-old is now expected to undergo a medical imminently and his arrival could be announced on Tuesday.

Scamacca is moving ever closer to completing his big move to the London Stadium, which appears to be a big coup.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain both wanted to sign Scamacca earlier this summer.

Arsenal ended up signing Gabriel Jesus instead whilst PSG just couldn’t get a deal done for the Italian hitman.

West Ham have swooped in to agree a fee with Sassuolo and are now approaching the final stages of the deal.

Scamacca hit 16 goals in 36 games last season, which is even more impressive when you factor in that only 25 of those games were as a starter.

Now an Italy international, Scamacca has been hailed as a player with ‘incredible potential’ by Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi.

That’s the kind of striker West Ham are seeking, though some will fear Scamacca being another Sebastien Haller.

Haller was a big, physical target man who just didn’t mesh with Moyes’ approach at West Ham.

Scamacca is 6ft 5in tall and whilst he is better on the deck than Haller was, West Ham can’t afford to see him struggle like Haller did.
