Tottenham want Nicolo Zaniolo but their first offer of cash plus Joe Rodon has been rejected by Roma.
Tottenham have enjoyed a very productive window so far with six new signing arriving to bolster Antonio Conte’s squad.
Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence are all on board, giving Tottenham a very strong side.
Any more signings will surely just be opportunistic deals now, but there continue to be claims that Tottenham are seeking a creative, versatile attacker.
Barcelona’s Memphis Depay has been linked with filling that role, but Fabio Paratici may now look towards the Italian market once again instead.
Tottenham want Nicolo Zaniolo
The top target right now appears to be Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo, who has been linked with Tottenham for quite a while.
Paratici has headed off to Italy this week, mostly to negotiate Japhet Tanganga’s move to AC Milan.
Yet there have also been murmurings that a deal for Roma star Zaniolo would also be on the docket for Paratici.
Calciomercato claim that Paratici has spoken to Roma about a potential deal for Zaniolo, which would have been a part-exchange.
It’s claimed that Tottenham have offered £25million plus Joe Rodon for Zaniolo – a deal that Roma have rejected.
Roma allegedly don’t want to take any players in exchange for Zaniolo and only want to deal with straight cash, meaning Tottenham will have to come back with a much better offer.

Rodon is believed to be on the Roma radar anyway with Jose Mourinho keen on a reunion with the defender he signed from Swansea City in 2020.
Rodon barely kicked a ball under Antonio Conte and certainly needs to leave Tottenham this summer.
Roma could provide an escape route but it seemingly won’t be as part of a deal involving Zaniolo, who was hailed for his ‘genius’ ability by Fabio Capello.
Zaniolo, 23, hit eight goals and nine assists last season, playing 42 games across all competitions having battled back from two knee injuries in recent years.
Capable of playing in from the right flank, behind a striker or even as a false nine, Zaniolo could be a versatile attacking threat for Conte – but Paratici must now come up with a better offer.
