Nikolas Ioannou is on his way out of Nottingham Forest after the Premier League newcomers snapped up both Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

Is there a footballer with a more glamourous CV than Cesc Fabregas? From Barcelona to London, Monaco to Como. A globe-trotters dream.

Fabregas sealed a surprise move to the second tier of Italian football earlier this month. And it seems that Ioannou will be able to call the World Cup winner a team-mate next season.

Because, according to Tuttomercatoweb, Como have turned their attention to the Nottingham Forest misfit after successfully luring Fabregas to Serie B with the promise of some of the most alluring views in all of Italy.

Cyprus international Ioannou spent last season on loan at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. He is expected to return in the coming days, this time on a permanent basis. Ioannou, the report adds, has his heart set on a long-term stay at a club who appointed one Dennis Wise as their head of sports operations a couple of years ago.

Nottingham Forest will let Nikolas Ioannou go

Ioannou, a former Manchester United youngster, has played just five league games since joining Forest from APOEL Nicosia back in 2020. He will have fallen even further down Steve Cooper’s pecking order after fellow left-backs Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo joined from Bayern Munich and Huddersfield Town respectively.

Fellow new recruit Neco Williams can also play on the left. According to The Athletic, talks are also underway with Real Betis regarding the £16 million-rated Alex Moreno too.

So the chances of Ioannou being handed a fresh start at the City Ground look decidedly slim. A parting of the ways feels like the most sensible course of action.

“A beautiful journey has come to an end,” Ioannou wrote on Instagram after his loan spell at Como.

“We went through a lot of ups and downs, but at the end we have achieved what we wanted! I want to thank the board for the opportunity that was given to me to play for this amazing club; All the coaching staff who believed in me and my teammates with whom we shared amazing moments.

“Last but not least, I want to thank our fans for the support and love they gave to me throughout the season. I wish to the club good luck and I will always follow and be a fan of Como 1907.”
