Nottingham Forest are keen on the idea of bringing former Wolves youngster Ruben Vinagre back to the Premier League on loan from Sporting Lisbon, as reported by O Jogo.

We are just one outfield addition away from being able to construct an entire 11-man team of new Nottingham Forest signings. And following the arrivals of Jesse Lingard, Dean Henderson, Taiwo Awoniyi and co, attention has turned to a left-back.

Yes, another one.

And, after failing with a ‘derisory’ £4 million bid for Real Betis flyer Alex Moreno last week, reports in Portugal suggest that Forest could now go all-out for a man more familiar to England audiences.

Portuguese U21 international Vinagre played 34 Premier League games in Wolves colours before being sold to Sporting for around £9 million last summer.

But, after failing to win over Leoes boss Ruben Amorim, Vinagre could soon be on his way back to Britain.

O Jogo say that Sporting, Primeira Liga champions in 2021, are willing to let the seldom-seen left-back leave on loan; A possibility Nottingham Forest are considering with Real Betis holding out for around £20 million for the now-29-year-old Moreno.

Forest, the report adds, would stump up a portion of Vinagre’s salary, plus a one million euro loan fee.

The 23-year-old former Monaco starlet – adventurous, technically gifted and blisteringly quick – was labelled a ‘special’ talent by one-time Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo before losing his place to Rayan Ait-Nouri.

“He’s progressing, improving in a lot of things – tactically, technically,” Nuno said back in 2020.

“The talent is there and that’s why Vinagre is massively important to us. He’s so versatile and can give us some different things during the game.

“He’s special.”
