Report: Mourinho could strike ‘frightening’ deal for Tottenham player, if Roma sell Zaniolo

Italian outlet Roma Giallorossa claim that Jose Mourinho could lure Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham to Roma on a loan-to-buy deal this summer – if the club find a buyer for Nicolo Zaniolo, who is rated at £43million.

Zaniolo, 22, was excellent under Mourinho last season. The Italy international had a hand in 17 goals during 42 outings, including the winner against Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League final. But he could now leave,

That is because Roma are about to pull off a real coup, signing Paulo Dybala on a free. Roma are open to Zaniolo’s exit and are ready to sell if a £43million bid is made – with Tottenham and Newcastle said to be interested in him.

The latest report states that Roma want Ndombele – a reunion between Mourinho and the Frenchman. But if they are to strike a deal, the will have to sell Zaniolo first. A loan-to-buy deal could be orchestrated.

While it may seem a bit over the top that Roma would have to sell Zaniolo just to get Ndombele initially on loan – the report explains that a permanent clause included in a deal for Ndombele would be “frightening”.

Mourinho could lure Ndombele from Tottenham to Roma

Following his poor return loan spell to Lyon, Tottenham are left in a predicament with Ndombele. A player left behind from the trip to South Korea by Antonio Conte. Capable of magic, but lacking any kind of work rate.

Conte is not his ideal manager. But a move to an Italian club, where the tempo is slower, would really suit Ndombele. A move to Roma might appeal – especially as Ndombele played lots under Mourinho at Tottenham. It has potential.
