Bayer Leverkusen will reportedly sign Manchester City talent Samuel Edozie shortly after the Premier League champions finalise a deal to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal.

According to the Athletic, an agreement is in place for the Bundesliga side to sign Edozie, however, Leverkusen are yet to agree a fee with City for the England youth international, with Sports Illustrated reporting that the deal for Edozie could be worth as much as £10m.

Edozie is will become the latest U-23 talent to leave City on a permanent deal this summer, following the likes of Romeo Lavia and Gavin Bazunu, with the club’s youth side generating close to £40m in sales as the Manchester giants endure their most profitable transfer window ever.

The first-team has seen a similar phenomenon with Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and soon Zinchenko all leaving City for big transfer fees, and now, Leverkusen look set to sign Edozie for another hefty fee, with the winger originally moving to Manchester for a reported £600,000.

Hailed by Pep Guardiola as an ‘incredible’ talent, Edozie looked like a candidate to break into the City first-team last season, however, the attacker was only limited to one senior appearance, with the winger now set to join to sign for Leverkusen in an attempt to play regular football at a top-flight level.

Indeed, whilst City have lost wingers Jesus and Sterling this summer, these two players have already been replaced in the form of Julian Alvarez and Cole Palmer, with the latter set to become the club’s next superstar from the youth academy following the success of Phil Foden under Guardiola’s mentorship.

Edozie has thrived for both club and country at youth level since arriving in Manchester, and signing for a club like Leverkusen could be a fantastic next step for the teenage attacker, with the Bundesliga arguably the best top-five league in Europe for developing youngsters.

Jadon Sancho is, of course, the most famous success story from England in Germany, and Edozie could replicate the form of the former City academy star if he is willing to be patient at Leverkusen and wait his turn to hit the big time, especially with the Bundesliga side competing in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
