Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Hamburg with defender Mario Vuskovic potentially the reason for their trip to Germany.

The Reds are likely done with their first-team arrivals this summer having brought in three new signings.

Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have arrived from Fulham and Aberdeen respectively, with the duo seen as real talents for the future.

The big arrival is Darwin Nunez as the Uruguayan hitman has come in from Benfica as Sadio Mane’s replacement.

It’s unlikely that Liverpool now go and sign another player but the Reds will still have their eyes on talents around Europe and beyond.

Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Hamburg

German newspaper Bild report that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Hamburg in action.

Hamburg took on Eintracht Braunschweig on Sunday with the 2. Bundesliga season already underway.

Hamburg claimed a 2-0 win as Robert Glatzel – formerly of Cardiff City – grabbed both goals in the second half.

It’s suggested that Liverpool had scouts in attendance alongside Wolfsburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, Freiburg, Stuttgart and even Burnley.

The reason for their trip isn’t absolutely clear but the report seems to suggest that it was Mario Vuskovic on Liverpool’s radar.

That seems pretty reasonable; Vuskovic was by far the most exciting young talent on the pitch and nobody else on the pitch really fits Liverpool’s mould.

Vuskovic, 20, is wanted by Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford having impressed with Hamburg.

The Croatian defender joined on loan from Hajduk Split last summer before turning the move permanent in March.

Vuskovic is a hugely exciting young defender and you can see why Liverpool may see him as a real talent for the future.

The report does though note that Hamburg wouldn’t even want to sell for €10million (£8.5million), believing that Vuskovic is worth even more.

Liverpool do have some promising young defenders in their ranks, such as Sepp van den Berg, but with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk into their 30’s, Vuskovic could be eyed as a potential heir if he continues to develop well at Hamburg.
