Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka has informed his Bundesliga club he will not sign a new contract and wants a transfer, amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who report Ndicka informed Die Adler that he has little interest in continuing at Deutsche Bank Park. The 22-year-old is now in the final year of his existing terms and believes he is now ready to embark on a new challenge after four years.

Ndicka joined Eintracht Frankfurt from his academy side Auxerre in 2018 following his first-team breakthrough the prior term. He has gone on to amass 139 appearances in Frankfurt in all competitions, and helped Oliver Glasner’s squad win the Europa League last season.

AC Milan are interested in now signing Ndicka from Eintracht Frankfurt with boss Stefano Pioli chasing new central defenders. The Rossoneri chief is eager to add another option to rotate with Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer after Alessio Romagnoli’s release.

Pioli has appreciated what Ndicka could offer at the San Siro since first exploring a transfer this January. But AC Milan deem Die Adler’s asking price to be excessive, having demanded €15-20m (£13-17m) for the former France U21 international to switch Germany for Italy.

AC Milan would prefer to sign Ndicka in a lucrative loan move and obtain a low-cost option or obligation to buy him next summer. He is also only one of a selection of options on their radar, with Rossoneri chiefs also debating a transfer with Tottenham for Japhet Tanganga.

So, Tanganga leaving Tottenham for AC Milan could free Spurs to advance their interest in a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for Ndicka. Foot Mercato noted in June that Antonio Conte admires the French enforcer, and was even leading the race should he move this summer.

Ndicka would offer his potential new suitor more than just a natural centre-half, having hit 10 goals and nine assists in Frankfurt. He also produced his best Bundesliga haul last term, netting four and creating a further four across 32 appearances – of which he started in 32.

Sport1 journalist Christopher Michel hailed Ndicka’s attacking threat earlier this year while speaking to Chronicle Live. Reports by Sport Bild in May claimed that Newcastle, Marseille and Monaco were also showing strong interest in a potential deal with Eintracht Frankfurt.

“For a central defender, Ndicka is extremely goal-threatening,” Michel said. “He has 10 goals and nine assists in 135 competitive games. That’s enormous. His opening with his left foot is good, he is strong with his header and fast.”
