Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad have both reportedly approached Rangers over signing Fashion Sakala on loan, with the La Liga duo interested in taking the Zambia international for the season.

According to Football Scotland, the Spanish pair are keen on signing Sakala on loan despite the striker signing for Rangers just one year ago, though the 25-year-old did struggle in his debut year in the Scottish Premiership, with the attacker suffering from injury problems and inconsistent form.

Whilst there were some bright performances, Sakala’s first year at Ibrox was somewhat underwhelming, and now, clubs are lining up to sign the Rangers forward on loan, but as per the report, the former Oostende star is eager to remain in Glasgow and fight for his place in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad.

Sakala bagged 12 goals and seven assists in all competitions last season for Rangers in from 50 appearances, and with the striker only making 15 starts, there’s a lot of room for the attacker to grow as a player, especially if the Bears lose another key player in the forward line.

Alfredo Morelos’ future is once again reportedly up in the air, and Sakala could become the club’s main striker should the Colombian international depart Rangers this summer, meaning there’s a good chance that the Zambia star could become the SPL giants’ leading man for the upcoming season.

Indeed, Sakala has shown his quality whenever given the chance for Rangers, and his first year in Scotland would have given him the experience needed to not only adapt to the league but to also get used to Van Bronckhorst’s style of play, which could suit the 25-year-old.

Sakala was one of Rangers’ most exciting transfers last summer, and the decision to loan out the attacker after one year feels rather premature from the Scottish club, especially with the forward confident in his abilities to fight for a place in the starting XI next season.

With a potential UEFA Champions League campaign on the horizon and another title challenge with Celtic coming up, Rangers need all the quality they can get, especially after a window where two of their key players have left, and Sakala could relish in the chance to prove doubters from last season wrong.
