Arsenal could now sell Bernd Leno to Fulham after lowering their asking price for the out-of-favour goalkeeper.

The Gunners went into last season with Leno as their first-choice goalkeeper but that quickly changed after Aaron Ramsdale’s arrival.

Ramsdale pushed Leno down to the bench, though the German turned in a strong display at Aston Villa back in March.

Arsenal have since signed United States International goalkeeper Matt Turner, adding another stopper to Mikel Arteta’s ranks.

That should pave the way for Leno to leave, though a deal has been a little trickier than anticipated.

Arsenal could now sell Bernd Leno to Fulham

London rivals and Championship winners Fulham have been chasing Leno as they eye up a new goalkeeping addition.

Barcelona’s Norberto Neto has also been linked but Arsenal’s Leno appears to be the top target.

The London Evening Standard claim that Arsenal’s asking price was £10million, which was preventing Fulham from striking a deal.

Now though, Arsenal are dropping their demands to £8million – and that could enable a move to Fulham.

Leno cost Arsenal £19million back in the summer of 2018 as they raided Bayer Leverkusen for the German stopper.

That means that Arsenal are now prepared to take an £11million loss on Leno, who has made 125 appearances for the Gunners.

Leno is out of contract next summer though, and that will likely be the driving factor in the asking price going even lower.

Fulham will now hope to move in and secure an important signing for Marco Silva.

Fulham have endured a quiet window so far, with only Andreas Pereira and Joao Palhinha arriving so far this summer.

Leno would be seen as first-choice goalkeeper at Fulham, ahead of Marek Rodak and former Tottenham stopper Paulo Gazzaniga in Silva’s pecking order.

There is still work to be done, but Arsenal dropping their asking price could now enable a deal to be done in the coming days.
