Arsenal are eyeing Matchoi Djalo but Troyes are making a first move to pip the Gunners as well as Everton and Southampton to a deal.

Mikel Arteta’s men have been busy this summer with Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus all arriving.

Oleksandr Zinchenko looks to be the next signing coming in as Arsenal near a second raid on Manchester City this summer.

The signing of Marquinhos is one with an eye toward the future, and it’s hard to see Arsenal going for another young winger off the back of that deal.

Arsenal are eyeing Matchoi Djalo

That isn’t stopping the rumour mill though – what does in the middle of the summer transfer window?

Foot Mercato report that four Premier League clubs are keeping close tabs on Pacos de Ferreira teenager Matchoi Djalo.

It’s stated that Arsenal are one of the interested clubs but Everton, Newcastle United and Southampton are also keeping tabs on the wide man.

However, Djalo could instead be off to France this summer as the report claims Troyes are making their move to sign Djalo.

The French side have opened talks with Djalo’s representatives in order to try and thrash out a move for the winger.

Stade de Reims are also keen as they look to add more young talent having allowed Hugo Ekitike to join Paris Saint-Germain.

A Portugal Under-19 international, Djalo played 29 times in the Pacos de Ferreira first team last season but actually played as an attacking midfielder more often than as a winger.

That versatility will make Djalo all the more appealing to many clubs, who have seemingly tracked Djalo ever since he became the youngest-ever player in Portugal’s top flight back in August 2019.

Djalo appears to have major potential for the future but unless they move quickly, the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton are primed to miss out.

One other note is that Troyes are part of the City Football Group, meaning Djalo could shine in France and put himself on the radar of Manchester City down the line.
