According to Sky Italia, Giacomo Raspadori has now asked to leave Sassuolo, following bids from West Ham and Newcastle.

What’s the story?

Well, it was said that Newcastle saw a £21m bid rejected by the Serie A side, while West Ham also had an offer of their own turned down by Sassuolo.

Now, Raspadori has taken matters into his own hands.

Sky Italia believe the Italy international has handed in a transfer request, with Juventus and Napoli also trying to secure his signature.

Napoli have offered €30m (£25m) for Raspadori, although in the event that Sassuolo agree to let him leave, they will demand €40m (£33m) for the man who scored ten goals for them last season.

Interestingly, Sky Italia add that Napoli already have an agreement with the 22-year-old in regards to personal terms, but they are yet to strike a deal with Sassuolo.

Furthermore, the Italian news outlet claims that Juventus will meet with Raspadori’s representatives today to discuss whether a deal is possible or not.

As aforesaid, the forward scored ten goals in all competitions last season, while he also provided six assists.

West Ham should leave Raspadori to Newcastle

In our view, David Moyes should leave this one to Eddie Howe.

West Ham have just spent £35.5m on Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, so it would be slightly unnecessary to spend £33m on another player in the same position.

Of course, the pair could strike up a partnership at the London Stadium like they have done in Italy, although Moyes would then need to drop two of his regular starters in attack.

In Newcastle’s case, Howe only has Chris Wood and Callum Wilson, with the latter very prone to injuries.

In that respect, the Magpies are in need of another forward far more than West Ham are.

Keep an eye on this situation, as things should start to develop after the transfer request.
