Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares is open to leaving the Gunners and moving to Atalanta on loan in the summer transfer window, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The SKySport journalist has reported on his website that Atalanta want to sign Tavares from Arsenal this summer.

The Italian club are looking at signing the £8 million (The Sun) Portuguese left-back on loan with an open to make it permanent at the end of next season.

However, Arsenal are prepared to let the 22-year-old leave only on loan, according to Di Marzio, who has added that the youngster himself has no problems in a switch to Atalanta in any deal.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Brighton and Hove Albion are also keen on Tavares.

Atalanta want Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares

Exit likely?

In our view, it is likely that Nuno Tavares will leave Arsenal on loan in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.

The Ukrainian can play at left-back and in midfield.

So, when Kieran Tierney is injured, the 25-year-old could take his place in the Gunners’ starting lineup.

That means that Tavares would miss out, so a move to Atalanta would make sense if he is able to play regularly.
