Real Madrid could help Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest close the signing of La Liga flyer Alex Moreno, according to Estadio Deportivo, with Betis eyeing Miguel Gutierrez as the left-back’s replacement.
Forest might have failed with an opening bid of £4 million for Moreno last week – one described by Spanish publication AS as ‘derisory’ – but the men from the City Ground are not going to give up that easily.
Some have suggested that Real Betis want closer to £20 million. A sizeable sum for a footballer who turned 29 a couple of weeks ago.
According to Estadio Deportivo, however, a deal could be agreed for a lower fee, with Betis now turning their attention to potential replacments. If Nottingham Forest are willing to pay £10 million up front – with £4 million in bonuses – then an agreement may be reached.
What’s more, Moreno should triple his wages at the City Ground.
And the signs certainly suggest that Real Betis are planning for life without the former Espanyol flyer. KRC Genk’s Mexico international Gerardo Arteaga is one potential successor.
Gutierrez is reportedly another.

The Spain U19 international is one of Europe’s most promising young full-backs. But, with Ferland Mendy and David Alaba ahead of him in Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order, first-team football at the Santiago Bernabau appears to be beyond Gutierrez.
The academy graduate played just three La Liga games in 2021/22. And Real have a history when it comes to cashing in on their most exciting young talent; From Achraf Hakimi to Martin Odegaard, Sergio Reguilon to Marcos Llorente.
Gutierrez, the report adds, may be available for £7 million, although Real Madrid would likely include a buy-back option in his contract. Either way, Nottingham Forest fans should keep a close eye on the European Champions over the next couple of weeks.
How times have changed at the City Ground.
Fulham also looked at Moreno earlier in the summer before turning to younger, more affordable options. Forest, meanwhile, have Ruben Vinagre on their radar too. The former Wolves starlet is available on loan from Sporting Lisbon.
