Ale Moreno has claimed that Oleksandr Zinchenko is going to join Arsenal from Manchester City to play a ‘prominent’ role in Mikel Arteta’s team, as he told ESPN.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has shared that he is going to miss his teammate ahead of his transfer to Arsenal, with Moreno adding that the player is taking the ‘next step’ in his career.

At 25, Zinchenko is yet to hit the best years of his footballing career, but at the Etihad, if he had stayed on, then he would have continued to be a squad player.

That has been his role during his time in Manchester, although, it does need to be pointed out that during the big moments, Pep Guardiola has played the Ukraine star.

Arsenal are yet to confirm that transfer of Zinchenko, but it seems as though it’s a matter of time, as ESPN pundit Moreno explained why he has decided to join them.

“I think it’s a good move for Zinchenko,” said Moreno. “It may just be the time in his career to take the next step, not to a better team because we know Manchester City is superior to Arsenal.

“But to have a more prominent role. And that’s a decision a player makes at this point. Do I play the secondary role at Manchester City? Or do I play a prominent role in a team that’s young and upcoming?

“I think what Zinchenko is probably telling himself is ‘it’s been great at Manchester City. I have had a great experience. But in order for me to evolve as a player, then I have to be in a prominent role and somewhere I can take responsibility’.

“The move would be good for Zinchenko and it would be good for Arsenal, as to where plays? Well, he does give you that variety. I don’t think by choice he would want to play left-back. He is a guy who wants to get on the ball and is willing to do so in advanced positions.”

ARSENAL STILL HAVE THE PULL

That’s three players Arsenal have managed to lure towards their shores that were playing Champions League football and are now dropping down to the Europa League by joining them.

Gabriel Jesus is the standout because he was the one who was more needed and he will perhaps play the most crucial of roles in north London.

Arsenal are in need of goals, the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka score a healthy amount given the positions and roles they play.

But that regular scorer is needed and that’s where someone like Jesus comes into play because if he can hit 15+ Premier League goals next term, then it puts his side in the driving seat to secure Champions League football.

There are two roads Arteta can go down next season – one being finishing in the top-four or winning the Europa League outright, either way they need to go down one.
