Newcastle United transfer target, James Maddison, has stated that ‘no feeling will ever come close’ to repping Leicester City out on the King Power turf, as he posted on Instagram.

Brendan Rodgers’s side recorded a 2-2 draw against Brentford on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, with Maddison supplying an assist for Timothy Castagne’s opening goal and telling his fans that it’s ‘great to be back out there’.

Despite the London club mounting a comeback from 2-0 down, Maddison produced a strong showing in the Midlands, with the 25-year-old a hot topic in the 2022 summer transfer rumour mill.

Whilst the Foxes weren’t able to hold onto their 2-0 lead, Newcastle secured a comfortable win, by that scoreline, against newly-promoted Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

At the bare minimum, the Magpies will be pushing for a top ten finish this season and it’s pretty realistic given how they have been performing under Eddie Howe since he took charge.

Well, if they add a certain English midfielder to their ranks, then they will start dreaming a lot bigger, with Leicester wanting £60 million for their star man, as he posted the following message to his fans after yesterday’s draw against Brentford.

WILL NEWCASTLE GET THEIR MAN?

Well, according to Rodgers, Leicester won’t be adding new faces to their squad this summer, despite signing zero players, so far.

But the Northern Irishman also made it clear that his sought-after players from Maddison and Wesley Fofana won’t be going anywhere, either.

The Magpies are trying to test those waters by putting in bids for Maddison, but at this moment in time, they aren’t getting much back.

There is an opening for Maddison to join Newcastle and elevate their midfield that has been much-changed since Howe walked through the doors.

Joelinton is now the hard-hitting defensive machine in the middle of the park, whilst summer signing Bruno Guimarães is providing the silky touches, mesmerising passes and out-of-your seat play alongside his fellow countryman.

Joe Willock also started against Forest, and impressed, but in truth, Maddison is a cut above the former Arsenal player.
