Ale Moreno has claimed that Everton possibly securing the transfer of Maxwel Cornet ‘makes sense’, but he warned that Fulham are also waiting in the wings for his signature, as he told ESPN.

After losing Richarlison to Tottenham this summer, those at Goodison Park need to fill the void left by their former South American star and Moreno feels Cornet has the ‘explosive’ nature to do so.

With Burnley preparing for life in the Championship, they are well and truly on the back foot in keeping their star players ahead of the new season – James Tarkowski recently moved to Merseyside on a free-transfer.

The interesting thing with Everton is how much money can they actually throw at the player, he will obviously be sold at a cut-price deal, but how far will the boat be pushed by the Toffees?

Well, at this moment in time, they haven’t put a transfer fee down for a player, as Moreno shared his thoughts on Cornet possibly heading to Everton.

“You just mentioned the key thing there, the fact that you lose someone like Richarlison,” said Moreno. “That means, you have to go and get players that can occupy that space and give you something similar to what Richrlison provided.

“Part of Everton’s struggles last season was that they were very limited in attack and that hasn’t changed. You have to be able to manufacture some of these transfers that make sense for you because you need to add numbers in the attack that give you some of that explosive movement you are missing out on last season.

“Whilst I think Everton is a nice match. I am also hearing that some information around Cornet is that, whilst Everton are flirting with Cornet, Fulham has also stepped in and said ‘well, we like the player as well. We like this guy. How about we dabble in here and see if we can get a player who can be useful to us’.

“Both possible moves to Fulham or Everton would make sense for Cornet.”

LACK OF EVERTON GOALS?

Richarlison hit double figures for Everton last season in pretty difficult circumstances, but will Frank Lampard’s side struggle to find the back of the net ahead of the new campaign?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has proven to be a more than capable performer, but his injury-hit season last time out just derailed his campaign and threw his form out of the window.

If he can stay fit, and find his magic from two seasons ago, then there will be less to worry about going forward for Lampard.

But if Calvert-Lewin finds life difficult, then the others around him need to step up, that’s why possible signings such as Cornet are needed.
