Speaking during Manchester City’s pre-season tour, as relayed by Sky Sports, Pep Guardiola has been discussing Oleksandr Zinchenko ahead of a reported move to Arsenal.

According to numerous outlets, the Manchester City man is set to join the Gunners this summer, and it looks as though this deal is on the verge of completion.

Indeed, according to Guardiola, people within City have already said goodbye to Zinchenko over dinner as he prepares to make the move to north London.

What’s been said?

Guardiola discussed Zinchenko and claimed he’s already bid farewell to the 25-year-old.

“On behalf of the club, our gratitude for their efforts and how they behave on and off the pitch. Yeah, it was nice yesterday with Alex (Zinchenko) because we could say goodbye properly. Unfortunately with Raheem and Gabriel we couldn’t do it because it was summer time. Yesterday over dinner we could say goodbye to him and move onto Arsenal,” Guardiola said.

Great servant

Zinchenko has been a fantastic servant to Manchester City, and it’s great that he’s been able to say goodbye to his teammates ahead of this transfer move.

The Ukrainian may not have been City’s most important player during this period, but he’s always performed well when called upon and he has so many medals to show for it.

Four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and four League cups, Zinchenko has slowly but surely become one of the most successful players in modern English football, and he’s only 25.

A move to Arsenal should see him get more minutes, and hopefully, he’ll be able to add a few more medals to his already impressive collection.
