West Ham want Armando Broja but Thomas Tuchel has indicated that there are no plans to sell the striker this summer.

The Hammers are focusing their attention on signing a new striker having signed goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, defender Nayef Aguerd and midfielder Flynn Downes.

Michail Antonio hasn’t really had direct competition up front since Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax in January 2021.

With Antonio now 32 and somewhat susceptible to some muscle injuries, it’s time for West Ham to go for a new striker.

West Ham want Armando Broja

A number of names have been linked but it’s Chelsea striker Broja who appears to be high on West Ham’s list.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that West Ham were ‘really close’ to an agreement worth around £30million for Broja.

It was suggested that Broja was leaving Chelsea’s pre-season camp in the United States in order to join West Ham.

There were even claims that it was Broja pushing for a move to West Ham in order to play more first-team football away from Chelsea.

Broja, 20, spent last season on loan at Southampton, scoring six goals in 32 games.

That seemingly hasn’t catapulted him into Chelsea’s immediate first-team plans though with West Ham making their move.

West Ham want Broja to offer that support to Antonio whilst moulding him into the eventual heir in their attack.

It looked like a deal was moving closer and closer but Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has pumped the breaks on that.

Tuchel has told Sky Sports that he doesn’t expect Broja to leave the club despite a move to West Ham allegedly being close this week.

Tuchel added that Broja does want to take the ‘next step’ in his career but Chelsea have yet to decide his future given that they see potential in the Albanian striker.

“I don’t expect him to leave,” Tuchel said. “I’m aware of the offers and aware of the interest. We will make a decision together, the owner and me and the player. When he arrived it’s clear he’s trying to impress and become a Chelsea player. “

“After his Southampton loan it’s clear he wants to make the next step. Unfortunately he got injured and there is now a lot of interest in him. Let’s see how that goes. He has a contract here,” he added.
