Lucas Moura has told Tottenham Hotspur’s website that he is more than happy at Spurs amid reports Juventus are keen to sign the Brazilian attacker this summer – underlining his love for his teammates, fans and Spurs staff.

Lucas, 29, is approaching five years at Tottenham having joined the club in January 2018. In that time, he has clocked up a huge 201 appearances for the North London club. He has a contract at Spurs until June 2024.

However, with the signing of Richarlison – Lucas’ game time may reduce. He started just 19 Premier League matches last term. Following the turn of the year, Lucas was only afforded six league starts.

So, given Kulusevski is ahead of him in the pecking order – and Richarlison has come in, Lucas may be forgiven for considering an exit. Juventus are among his admirers. But the winger has told the Spurs website he is staying.

“The important thing is to enjoy every season. I live a dream every day, every season, because I love to be here, I love our supporters, my team-mates, all the employees of the Club, so it’s always a pleasure to do what I do.”

Steven Bergwijn has left the club and with Richarlison likely to start alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, it leaves Spurs with just Lucas and Kulusevski as cover. Ryan Sessegnon or Ivan Perisic can play on the left.

So, while he is only going to be back-up and may get the odd start here and there – likely to be in the domestic cups. But he remains important for Spurs as cover and it is crucial they keep a player like him.

Excelletn attitude and the ability to change a game when he does enter the fray. An experienced attacker like £80k-a-week (Spotrac) Lucas, can also help the likes of Bryan Gil, if the Spaniard remains this summer.
