Darwin Nunez‘s suspension gives Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp a headache against Manchester United next week.

Old Trafford plays host on Monday night as a wounded Reds visit their old rivals in search of a first Premier League victory of the campaign, the same for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Nunez picked up a red card in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace earlier this week.

And with Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota sidelined, well Liverpool might not have a recognised number nine available to spearhead the attack against the Red Devils.

With that in mind, it’s possible that Klopp unleashes Fabio Carvalho, their summer signing.

The Portuguese prospect is only 19 but if Jota and Firmino aren’t available at Old Trafford then it’s plausible that he is the best of all the bad options.

He joined Liverpool as a number 10 but Carvalho revealed earlier this summer that he’s open to play pretty much anywhere.

He told their official website: “Obviously at Fulham I played more in the No.10 role; it just depends on which formation we play. But I also fancy the wing because I’m creative enough to go one-v-one and create things. But like you said, I’m more than comfortable playing anywhere but those two positions are where I want to play.”

It’s that versatility which could come in handy under Klopp and although the youngster has virtually no experience through the middle, well it might be a case of needs must for the Anfield outfit against Manchester United.
