Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Charles De Ketelaere’s situation amid continued links to the Premier League.

The Belgian attacker has been linked with both Leeds and Leicester City in recent weeks, and while this has been a drawn-out saga, it seems to finally be coming to an end.

Sadly though, it looks like this talented young player will not be coming to England anytime soon.

According to Bailey, a deal has almost been agreed for the Club Brugge ace to join AC Milan, and according to this reporter it could be a done deal this weekend.

What’s been said?

Bailey shared what he knows about this situation.

“He was in Bruges earlier this week, he was there yesterday, they’re not far away now in terms of value, they agreed terms with the players first. Brugge want about €35m, Milan are at about €32m at the minute, so they’re not far away. He’s become their number one target, they’ve gone for him ahead of Ziyech at Chelsea who they may come back to. Leeds were trying, Leicester would have loved him too,” Bailey said.

“The path is open for him to go to Milan and as big a draw as money is in the Premier League, sometimes when a club like Milan come calling it’s a huge thing, I think De Ketelaere to AC Milan is as close as it ever has been and it could be done this weekend.”

Onto the next one

Leeds may have missed out on De Ketelaere, but with only two weeks to go until the season starts, they need to swiftly move onto their next target.

Leeds certainly need a new striker throygh the door. After all, they only have one recognised senior centre-forward in the squad in the shape of Patrick Bamford, and it’s fair to say that his injury record isn’t the greatest.

The Whites have missed out on the Belgian, and now, they need to move swiftly to get another deal done.
