Speaking on The Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Lucas Paqueta’s situation amid ongoing links to both Arsenal and Newcastle.
The two Premier League giants have both been linked with a move for the Brazilian this summer, but there’s been no real movement on that front as of yet.
However, Romano maintains that Paqueta is a player to watch out for this summer with regards to a move to the Premier League.
Indeed, he says that the player is very keen to come to England, stating that Paqueta is actually convinced that the Premier League would be perfect for him.
What’s been said?
Romano spoke about Paqueta and his desire to move to the Premier League.
“Yes I think this is one to watch in the coming weeks, Lucas Paqueta, the player really wants to experience the Premier League, he is really tempted by the Premier League. He is convinced that the Premier League would be the perfect league for him after playing in Brazil, Serie A and in Ligue 1,” Romano said.
“Let’s see what happens with the English clubs. It’s true that Arsenal always had a good connection as their director is Brazilian, but there is no bid or no negotiation from Arsenal. Newcastle have a good relationship with people close to Paqueta, but there’s still no bid.”

Newcastle his best bet
If Paqueta truly wants to head to the Premier League then Newcastle may well be his best bet.
Indeed, while there is an interest from Arsenal, the Gunners already have three quality attacking midfielders within their squad, and signing Paqueta would be overkill.
Meanwhile, there’s a slot open in the Newcastle midfield and given his close relationship with Bruno Guimaraes, a move to St James’ Park could be perfect for Paqueta.
The midfielder’s agent should be on the phone to Dan Ashworth if he wants a Premier League move.
