Everton and Tottenham are set to officially miss out on Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-jae later today with the defender set to have his medical for Napoli ahead of signing for the Italian club.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Kim landed in Naples last night and will have his medical later today ahead of signing for Napoli in a deal worth £20m, with the 25-year-old defender set to replace Kalidou Koulibaly, who joined Chelsea earlier in the month.

Both Everton and Tottenham have been linked with the Turkish Super Lig star for most of the window, however, Napoli have now won the race to sign Kim in what could be one of the best deals of the summer, with the defender one of the best in his position outside of Europe’s top-five leagues.

However, it is Napoli who have now won the race for Kim, with the South Korean titan a suitable and exciting replacement for former superstar Koulibaly, who ended his eight-year stint in Italy to sign for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea for a reported £33m.

Whilst missing out on Kim is a blow for both Everton and Tottenham, it’s not the end of the world for Frank Lampard or Antonio Conte, with both managers signing centre-backs this summer in the form of James Tarkowski and Clement Lenglet respectively.

Indeed, Napoli have landed a gem in Kim this summer, and although Everton and Tottenham can justify why they didn’t sign the Asian superstar, either side could have done with landing the 25-year-old defender on a permanent deal for the upcoming season.

Napoli could make Everton and Tottenham regret not signing Kim

As established, Kim is a top centre-back who is finally set to get his big break in a top European division with Napoli, and for Everton and Tottenham, this move could make them regret not moving fast enough to land the former Fenerbahce superstar this summer.

After all, an extra defender never hurts anyone in this era of football, and a colossus like Kim could have been ideal for Everton or Tottenham given what both sides want to achieve next season, and Napoli could make either Premier League side regret not pushing hard enough to sign the centre-back.
