Earlier this summer, it was said that Manchester City and Tottenham wanted to sign Destiny Udogie from Udinese.

The 19-year-old has put his name up in lights after impressively scoring five goals in 35 Serie A appearances last season from left wing-back, while also providing three assists.

Now, Udogie has been left out of the Udinese squad by Andrea Sottil.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian was left out of today’s 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in Serie A ahead of an expected exit.

However, his destination does not seem to be Manchester City.

Destiny Udogie not even in Udinese squad for today’s game vs AC Milan – no risk for Italian left back as he will undergo medical tests on Tuesday as new Tottenham player. #THFCUdogie will be in England to sign 5 year deal with Spurs then back to Udinese on loan until June. pic.twitter.com/y7P112taLg— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 13, 2022

Udogie is on his way to Tottenham, after Fabio Paratici – a man with many contacts in Italy – agreed a deal worth £21m with Udinese.

It seems the deal is progressing well, with the teenager not involved against AC Milan today.

Given Antonio Conte’s love of an attacking wing-back, we believe Udogie will be a huge hit in north London.

However – as you can see in the tweet by Fabrizio Romano – Spurs fans will have to be patient, as Udogie is returning to Udinese on loan for the 2022/23 season.

What Tottenham will do next after Destiny Udogie signing

After wrapping up a deal for Udogie, it has been said that Paratici – Director of Football at Tottenham – will attempt to bring another central defender to Hotspur Way.

Spurs have already signed Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona, but Conte is seemingly keen to have another new centre-back in his squad.

Joe Rodon has joined Rennes on a season-long loan deal, while Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez could also leave Tottenham before the end of the transfer window.

Therefore, another player in that department is definitely required, especially as Conte tends to use three central defenders at a time and has four competitions to partake in this season.

Keep an eye on developments at Tottenham, as we expect Paratici to find Conte a new centre-back.
